Rexel relies on Mydatafactory for excellent search results in its webshop
Mydatafactory assists Rexel Nederland in improving the findability of more than 300,000 deliverable products in the company’s webshop. Part of the Rexel Group, Rexel Nederland is an electrical engineering wholesaler in the Netherlands that supplies products for the construction, industry, utility and retail sectors.
High-quality product data leads to online success
A key objective for Rexel’s E-Business department is improving the findability of the company’s online assortment of items. Complete, high-quality product data that has been enriched in consistent ways is essential to the success of this objective!
As with many wholesale organizations with a vast product range, Rexel has had to deal with product data being inconsistent or incomplete, leading to different levels of quality within their product data. The process of updating product data to a high level of quality is a labor-intensive process. Mydatafactory offers a solution that utilizes smart technology, allowing the process to be done faster and more efficiently.
“The first step in the process is updating the selected products in the online webshop. This means not only providing them with complete, consistent, and qualitative descriptions but also enriching them with product characteristics,” explains Arjan Herskamp, managing director of Mydatafactory. “By properly recording the product characteristics in the system in an unambiguous way, search results are improved. This makes it easier for online visitors to filter products by features such as color, format, dimensions, and so on.” The next step is configuring the search engine technology to take advantage of the higher-quality product data. This way, Mydatafactory and Rexel can ensure that customers are able to find their desired products faster.
On-the-job training for optimal results
The project has already begun and is expected to take approximately 12 months. The project teams from Mydatafactory and Rexel work closely together to optimize the company’s online product range.
On-the-job training was provided from the very start of the project. Mydatafactory immediately began working with not just the product data but also with Rexel employees, so that they would be able to deliver results quickly and independently. Training and monitoring client organizations is standard at Mydatafactory, coming under what the company calls Customer Success Management. Customer Success Management means that we continue to proactively monitor the customer and advise them about how they can do things better and/or faster. All this is aimed at improving the findability of products online!
